FUTURE SCHOLARS OF BELL RECEIVES A $15,000 GRANT FROM IME BECAS/JUNTOS PODEMOS PROGRAM

January 18, 2016 (BELL, CA) –The “Future Scholars of Bell” scholarship program was created by Terry Rodrigue, CEO of Interwest Consulting Group (“Interwest”) and is designed to provide students, who reside in the City of Bell, the support necessary to achieve their goal of attending college. The program, in its 3nd year, is made possible through generous donations from business owners endeavoring to make a difference. In addition to donations, The Future Scholars of Bell program is always seeking partnerships through organizations and foundations that support the same mission. In September 2015, the Future Scholars of Bell applied for a grant through the Mexican Consulate via a program called IME BECAS and Junto Podemos/Together We Can program.

Juntos Podemos/Together We Can is a program that promotes the development of Mexicans in the United States and their linkage to Mexico by providing grants to organizations that provide support to Mexican American students whether youth or adults. Juntos Podemos/Together We Can work with the IME BECAS program to leverage knowledge so that together they can contribute funding to local groups who are seeking to provide youth and/or adults scholarships to obtain higher education.

We are pleased to announce that on December 7, 2015 the Future Scholars of Bell Program was awarded $15,000 in grant funds to be dispersed in 2016. The Ceremony took place at the Consul General’s office in Los Angeles. Mr. Rodrigue and the Future Scholars of Bell Program were supported by City of Bell Mayor Ali Saleh and Councilwoman Ana Maria Quintana, Rafael Balderas-Bell High School Principal, Frank Marquez-Bell High School College Counselor, Jesus Diaz-Field Representative Ricardo Lara’s office, Aide Castro-Field Representative Assemblyman Anthony Rendon’s Office, Jaqueline Coto, Field Director LAUSD Board Member Ref Rodriguez’ office (official picture attached).

“Interwest has had the pleasure of working with Bell since 2010. It is an honor to be able to give back in a very specific way and impact the lives of the students. We are extremely excited about this new partnership with the Mexican Consulate, IME BECAS and Juntos Podemos/Together We Can Program share the same philosophy as the Future Scholars of Bell program. We look forward to giving out more scholarships to deserving students in 2016” said Terry Rodrigue.

The $15,000 grant will be dispersed to Bell High School seniors who are selected and meet the criteria through the application process which are due in late February 2016. Applications can be obtained at the Bell High School Counseling office or by contacting Frank Marquez, College Counselor at (323) 832-4700.
