Child Abuse Awareness Training

Below is an edited copy of the e-mail notice sent to all employees on July 15, 2011 regarding the Child Abuse Awareness Training:

Every school year, all employees must complete the on-line Child Abuse Awareness Training (CAAT). This training includes a 17 minute video and a ten question assessment. This assessment is only available on-line. All employees are to complete this assessment before the start of their school year but no later than October 15, 2011.
One of the top priorities of the District is to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Every employee must be knowledgeable of the procedures to follow in reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. Specifically, the District recognizes that it is the responsibility of all staff to protect students from abuse and neglect by becoming knowledgeable about: abuse and neglect, its indicators, filing mandatory suspected child abuse reports as required, and cooperating with child protective and law enforcement agencies.

On July 12, 2011, all employees received a Connect ED message reminding them of the required annual completion of the CAAT. If you did not receive this message, please check with Human Resources to ensure the district has you current contact information.

We greatly appreciate your attention to this matter. If you have questions, please speak with your immediate supervisor. Thank you for your efforts to keep all LAUSD students safe.
Sincerely,

Earl R. Perkins
Assistant Superintendent
